Looking for a place in Higher Education in Angola has been a challenge faced by young people. Despite the notable increase in Higher Education Institutions, there are still few vacancies to meet the growing demand. On the other hand and considering the desire to attend Higher Education (HE), young people do not always choose the course that represents their true vocation. This reality requires a greater volume of research on access and success in HE, which can only occur if researchers have validated instruments at their disposal to evaluate the relevant variables in such studies. Thus, the aim of this article was to present data relating to the validation of the “Grit Assessment Scale: International Version in Portuguese Language” (EAGrIt-LP) for the university student population in Angola. To do this, the factorial structure of the items was analyzed to identify the underlying dimensions and then the precision and sensitivity of the results. The analyzes carried out revealed adequate psychometric indexes in terms of validity, precision and sensitivity of the results. As grit is related to students’ motivation and commitment to their objectives and training projects, the interest in its use in academic achievement research and vocational guidance and career development activities for teenagers.
